Springfield Golf Course is a Charlotte Favorite
‘Fore-T’ Mill, SC
Our writers have been busy crafting copy to describe a great golf club.
Springfield is known as one of the favorite golf courses in Charlotte even though it is
not actually located in the Queen city.
Location, location…
Charlotte golfers are always on the lookout for a quality course. It is not unusual to hop in the car and ride a ways to get to the kind of golf course that is a real pleasure to play.
Southern Traditions
Leroy Springs is well known throughout North and South Carolina as a great place to play golf.
Just a short drive down to Fort Mill, South Carolina, and I do mean short, it’s about 15 minutes from Charlotte, and you’re in for a treat.
Springfield is one of Fort Mill’s finest golf clubs. For that matter, it’s one of the finest courses around.
This course has a design that goes back to the 1920’s when course architecture was really taking off. Springfield Golf Club opened in 2001 and has quickly made a name for itself among Charlotte golf courses.
Springfield is a 6,906 yard par 72 course. Clyde Johnston designed the layout.
Scenic
The beautiful fairways and greens are located on a heavily wooded, hilly site in Fort Mill. That’s just a stone’s throw over the South Carolina border.
Talk about scenic. The Springfield course features four holes along Sugar Creek, giving players spectacular views. 13 holes play across and beside streams that feed into the Catawba River.
- Graceful folds
- “Contours that define the Springfield course are as memorable as they are strategic and demanding.”
~Clyde Johnston, Course Designer
